BIOCHEMISTRY MAJOR
A major in Biochemistry consists of 68 semester hours
in Biology, Chemistry,
and Physics with no minor required.
Required

Biology:
141, 142, 220, 323, 380, 423, and one approved Biology
elective.
Chemistry:
121, 122, 123, 124, 210, 301, 302, 311, 312, and 421
or an approved
Chemistry elective.
Physics:
201and 202 or 203 and 204
Liberal Arts Core note: Mathematics
111 satisfies the Liberal Arts Core minimum requirement
in Mathematics for this major. Higher mathematics courses
may be required as prerequisites for certain courses.

CHEMISTRY MAJOR
A major in Chemistry consists of 38 to 39 semester hours
in Chemistry (10 courses)
Required Courses:
Chemistry: 121 with 123 lab, 122 with 124 lab, 210,
301, 302, 320, 421 and 422
Physics: 201 and 202 (prerequisites for Chem 421/422)
Elective Courses: Chemistry 311, 410,
430, 440 (any two)
Recommended: Computer Science 217 or
higher
Liberal Arts Core note: Mathematics
130, 221,and 222 are required prerequisites for certain
courses in this major. Depending on where a student is
placed in mathematics, additional courses may be required,
including Mathematics 099 and Mathematics 111.

CHEMISTRY MINOR
A minor in Chemistry consists of 22-24 semester hours.
Required Courses:
Chemistry 121 with
123 lab, 122 with 124 lab, and 210
Elective Courses: Any three Chemistry
courses with two on the 300-400 level, and both Chemistry
117 and 301 may not be used.
Liberal Arts Core note: Mathematics
130 will satisfy the minimum level of mathematics required
to earn this minor. Higher mathematics courses are required
prerequisites to certain upper level chemistry courses.
