Zeta Phi Beta

Zeta Phi Beta was founded January 16, 1920, on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. It was first incorporated on March 30, 1923 in Washington, D.C. by the members of the sorority known as "The Five Pearls". They believed that there were more important social issues to address such as health issues, prejudices, and poverty. They wanted Zeta Phi Beta to reach college women all across the nation who wanted to join a sorority organization with a greater sense of helping others and fostering educational excellence. It was in this spirit and with this purpose that Zeta Phi Beta was created.

Benefits of Membership
Along with the benefits of support, encouragement and friendships that last a lifetime, Zeta Phi Beta membership offers many practical benefits.

Opportunity to Serve
Through volunteerism in the community and on campus, Zeta women develop the self worth and pride that comes from serving others and making a positive contribution to society.

Professional Development
Zeta women develop leadership skills by attending seminars, holding officer
and committee positions within the chapter; and serving as a role models
for the Sorority's youth affiliates.

Personal Development
Membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority is a living and learning experience for
women with shared values and objectives. You will have the opportunity to be
involved in a wide range of activities where you can use your unique talents and
knowledge to contribute to the chapter and your community.

From the Sorority's inception, the members of Zeta Phi Beta and Phi Beta Sigma have successfully collaborated on a variety of community service projects, shared national, regional, state and local activities and developed and enjoyed the bonds afforded a sisterhood and brotherhood with a shared purpose. No other two organizations can boast of such a rich, mutually beneficial relationship that has resulted in a complete and comprehensive record of service to the men, women and children within our communities
