REFERENCE AND INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN

Description: The L. Mendel Rivers Library at Charleston Southern University invites applications for the position of Reference and Instruction Librarian

Qualifications: Completed Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited library program.  Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively, commitment to public services and knowledge of current best practices in academic libraries are essential.  Experience in academic libraries highly desirable.
                                                                                               
Responsibilities: Reference services, to include rotating evening and occasional weekend hours; library instruction, with emphasis on Information Literacy standards; collection development; and faculty outreach.  Additional responsibilities include serving on university committees and other departmental and university activities, as assigned. This 12-month, non-tenure track position carries faculty rank.

MUSIC THERAPY                                                         

Description:  Charleston Southern University invites applications for a faculty position in the approved Music Therapy Program within the NASM-accredited Horton School of Music beginning August 1, 2010.
                                                                                               
Qualifications: Doctorate degree preferred; Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field, including a minimum of 18 graduate hours in music therapy required; music therapy board certification and three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) clinical music therapy experience required; supervisory experience required; college teaching experience preferred.

DISTANCE EDUCATION ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITIONS

Description: The Charleston Southern University College of Distance and Continuing Education (CDCE) is seeking adjunct instructors to assist in the facilitation of its online curriculum starting in January 2010.  Specifically, instructors are needed immediately in the following areas in Spring 2010: Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Management and Human Resources.

For Fall 2010, instructors will also be needed to facilitate online core curriculum courses, including: Art, Business, Communication, Computer Information, Criminal Justice, English, Foreign Language, History, Mathematics, Political Science, Religion and Social Sciences.

These positions are not full-time.  Applications will be collected by CDCE and distributed for use by various divisions as positions need to be filled.  Please do not contact individual departments when applying for these positions.
           
Qualifications: A master's degree (18 graduate content hours), certification and adequate experience are expected in each of these areas (Doctorate preferred).  Application review will be conducted on a continual basis.

Responsibilities:  Administer a strong undergraduate program in biology, making program changes as necessary to maintain currency and strengthen the quality of graduates.  Supervise the activities of seven to eight faculty members.  Mentor junior faculty in research activities.  Allocate budget and equipment as necessary to accomplish departmental teaching and research.  Develop and implement plans as necessary for program development and growth.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Nursing; three years of full time direct patient care experience; current clinical competence in Adult Health Nursing; willingness to work with beginning nursing students; and commitment to Christian higher education.  Candidates with a master’s degree in nursing must be enrolled in doctoral study or committed to begin.  The most desirable candidate will have a doctorate in nursing or a related field; teaching experience in a generic baccalaureate program; and ability to supervise students in a second clinical area.  Rank commensurate with experience.
