Restrictions
¬

Students admitted to Charleston Southern University as Foundation Studies Program students need to be aware of the following restrictions:

  1. Students in the Foundation Studies Program are enrolled under three classifications: a Full Foundation Studies Program, a Foundation Studies English-only Program, and a Foundation Studies Math-only Program. In each case, students will have the opportunity, in two consecutive semesters, to pass the Algebra 099 and English 099 courses and to attempt their companion courses, and to take Writing and Learning Strategies. Those students unable to pass either 099 course after two attempts will be designated by the Director of the Foundation Studies Program and the Registrar to have made unsatisfactory progress in the Foundation Studies Program. These students will not be permitted to continue their enrollment at CSU and must meet special requirements to be readmitted to the University.
  2. Students admitted as Foundation Studies students may not withdraw from Foundation Studies courses.
  3. Students in this program must pass all of their Foundation Studies courses during the first thirty (30) hours of course work attempted at Charleston Southern University. Exceptions may be made due to class availability by the Director of Academic Advising and/or the Director of the Foundation Studies Program.
  4. Foundation Studies students may only be enrolled in two (2) music ensembles and two (2) private music lessons courses each semester that they are taking Foundation Studies courses.

    Attendance

All students enrolled in Foundation Studies courses should note the attendance policy for these courses (see also Attendance in this catalog). A student will receive a grade of "FA" (failure for absences) upon accumulating the following absences:
