4. Does CSU offer online, distance learning graduate degrees?

Yes, yes and yes! We offer many different delivery methods here at CSU. We understand most of our graduate students are working full time during the day and attending school in the evening. We offer our MBA degree entirely online. We also offer MBA classes that are mixed and entirely on campus. There is no need to choose one delivery method; you can take classes any method or all methods.

* Currently our MSCJ and MED degrees are offered on campus only BUT look for a few of the courses to be offered online.

5. Are your programs accredited?

All of our programs at Charleston Southern University are fully accredited through SACS. For more information: For more information on SACS, click here.

Additional Accreditations:

Graduate Education program has NCATE accreditation for each program.

7. When are classes offered and when can I start?

Our graduate level classes for the MBA and MSCJ program are offered in the evening beginning at 6:00pm. Our education graduate students begin classes at 5:00pm. The courses only meet one night a week during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Graduate students may begin the graduate programs during any semester. Our semesters include Fall, Spring, Maymester, Extended Maymester, Summer I and Summer II terms.

8. What is required to be a full time or part time graduate student at CSU?

In order to maintain full time enrollment status you will need to be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (typically 2 courses). Part time status is simply a student enrolled in less than 6 hours. Most of our graduate students are enrolled in 6 credit hours per major semester.

9. What is the application deadline?

CSU does not have an application deadline. You may apply up to the drop/add date of the term you wish to enter. Please keep in mind this is not recommended since classes fill quickly.

* International students must apply by a specific deadline, see your application packet.

10. Do I need a graduate exam to get accepted?

MBA applicants: If your cumulative undergraduate gpa was a 2.5 or greater, then you
are exempt from taking a graduate exam. If you have less than a 2.5 you will need to take the GMAT exam.

MED applicants: You must be a certified teacher to be accepted to this program. In order to receive certification you were required to have passed the PRAXIS II; therefore we do not require any other exams be taken for admission.

MSCJ applicants: You are required to take the MAT or GRE for acceptance. Please allow ample time for the test scores to be mailed to us for acceptance. For acceptance we will factor your GPA in with your test score and then determine if it meets our criteria.

You may view our formula for acceptance on page 62 of our graduate catalog.
