Program Overview

CSU SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
PREPARING COMPETENT, CARING AND
COMMITTED EDUCATORS


1 of only 11 institutions in the state identified as a Teaching Fellows Institution

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program
is a scholarship program for qualified South Carolina high school students who wish to pursue a degree in education and a career in South Carolina’s public schools following graduation. Administered by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement. The program provides a $24,000 scholarship/loan for up to 200 outstanding high school seniors.

Committee Involvement

Each Teaching Fellow serves on a committee that provides the framework for the program. The committees include Recruitment, CSU Community, Public Relations, and Community Service.


Special Events & Activities

Team Building Challenge Course on James Island, Local Charleston Area Attractions, Professor-Led Book Chats, Freshmen Seminar, Future Teachers Society, Student ASCD, Halloween Fun, Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, Santee Cooper Energy Educator’s Institute for Teaching Fellows

Programs Offered at CSU

Early Childhood, Elementary, English Education, Mathematics Education, Social Studies Education, PreK-12 Physical Education, PreK-12 Music-Choral and Instrumental

Service Oriented
Examples include Habitat for Humanity, Water Missions, Miracle League, Low country Orphan Relief and Convoy of Hope.

Clinical Based
Field Experiences throughout the program
A Senior Year Field Experience and Clinical Practice with one School Faculty member.


Proven Effective
Our graduates include school and district Teachers of the Year and Rookie of the Year, nationally board certified teachers, Milken Family Foundation National Educator, Sallie Mae 1st Year Teacher award recipient, Promising Practices recipient, and out-of-state school Teachers of the Year among other teaching honors.
