Financial Aid Application
IMPORTANT: Before you can receive any Financial Aid at Charleston Southern University you will need to be accepted for admission to the University. If you have not done so, you can apply online or download an application. You may also call us at (843) 863-7050 or 1-800-947-7474 and we would be glad to help. Aid is awarded first-come, first-serve so apply early to ensure that you will receive all of the aid for which you qualify.
To begin the financial aid awarding process, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be processed at any time after January 1st of the year you plan to enroll at CSU. You may get a copy of this form from your high school guidance counselor or from CSU. You may also fill out this form on-line at:
FAFSA Home Page
[CSU Federal Code: 003419]

NOTE: If you complete the on-line FAFSA, don’t forget to apply for a PIN or print out the required signature page. You will not be awarded aid until the FAFSA is signed.
The Department of Education will mail you printed Student Aid Report (SAR) in about 2-4 weeks. Review your SAR for accuracy, making sure that all the information is correct. If corrections are required return the SAR directly to the federal processor or make corrections on FAFSA Online.
If you entered Charleston Southern University’s Federal Code under "College Name," we will receive your results electronically. If not, you may add schools to your SAR by calling 1-800-433-3243 or online at FAFSA Online. The Financial Aid office CAN NOT request your FAFSA.
Once CSU has received your information from the Federal Processor, you will be sent a Financial Aid Award Letter. This letter will list all of the types of aid you are receiving. This includes scholarships, grants, college work-study, and even student and parent loans. For a description of your specific awards, please look at the CSU Financial Reference Guide. Your award letter will also list missing documents that are required before funds are dispersed to your student account.

If you are receiving Federal student loans, the SC Student Loan Corporation will mail you a master promissory note. This can be signed online as well at slc.sc.edu. While there, you can complete your entrance loan interview and sign up for their $1,000.00 scholarship give-away.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail your enrollment counselor. They will be happy to answer and financial aid questions you might have.
