State Aid

Financial assistance is available to South Carolina residents that attend college at a South Carolina institution.  State scholarships are awarded based on academics, financial need and residency requirements set by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. The chart below gives details about the financial assistance offered to South Carolina students interested in attending Charleston Southern University.

S.C. LIFE Scholarship
Must meet two of these three: 3.0+ HS GPA based on the SC Uniform Grading Scale; 1100+ SAT/24+ ACT; or top 30% of graduating class. Must be a full time undergraduate student
$5,000 Awarded based upon high school transcript for freshman year; awarded based upon college transcript after freshman year Submit FAFSA; maintain a cumulative LIFE GPA of 3.0+; complete 30 credit hours per academic year (excluding Bridge Program courses); sign SC certification form and submit proper residency documentation
S.C. HOPE Scholarship
HS GPA of 3.0+ based upon the SC Uniform Grading Scale. Must be a full time undergraduate student
$2,800 Awarded based upon high school transcript for freshman year; may qualify for LIFE Scholarship based upon college transcript after freshman year Not renewable, however a student may qualify for the LIFE Scholarship after their first year by completing 30 credit hours (excluding Bridge Program courses);  sign SC certification form and submit proper residency documentation
S.C. Life and Palmetto Fellows Enhancement Scholarship
Must meet SC Life or SC Palmetto Fellows renewal requirements (see above) and be pursuing a math or science major by second year of college and have taken 14 hours of math and/or science courses by the first day of classes for second year in college. Must be a full time undergraduate student
$2,500 (in addition to SC Life or SC Palmetto Fellows award) Awarded based upon high school transcript for freshman year in college and eligibility requirements listed to the left.  Meet SC Life or SC Palmetto Fellows qualifications and sign SC Certification Form.

C.G. Fuller Foundation Scholarship

All scholarship applicants must be S.C. residents, incoming freshman and demonstrate financial need, academic achievement and leadership qualities. Applicants should have the equivalent of a B or better grade point average. Each applicant must also score at least 1400 (math/writing and critical reading) on their SAT (or exceed 24 ACT) and have family income under $60,000. Applications are available in the Financial Aid office and must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office no later than May 1, 2015, for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic year.

Army Nurse Corps Association Nursing Scholarship

The scholarship applicant must be a Nursing student who plans to, has previously, or has an immediate family member who has served in the Active Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve. The applicant who receives funding from the GI bill is not precluded from receiving this scholarship. Applications and guidelines are available online.
