Phone-a-thon
is a major part of the Annual Fund campaign to raise
unrestricted money for CSU. From January through April,
for almost 16 weeks, students will call as many of the
10,000-plus CSU alumni across the country as possible
to ask for their support of the Annual Fund.
When
students call, they have four goals:
1)
To verify as much alumni information as possible to
strengthen the alumni database – name changes,
new addresses, e-mails, etc.
2) To expand the base of support and get as many alumni as possible to participate
3) To ask each alumnus to give a gift of any amount
4) To answer questions from alumni about what’s going on around campus
or what changes have happened to an academic program
Students
call Monday through Thursday nights, from 6:00 p.m. till
9:00 p.m. We can’t make international calls, but
we do call west coast, Alaskan and Hawaiian alumni. All
students are trained, and compete for prizes throughout
the night for the most successful calls, biggest pledges,
most “no’s” or other mini-contests
that keep the energy pumping.
Alumni
are welcome to join in the fun too. If you’re living
in the Charleston metro area and would like the chance
to talk with old classmates, contact the alumni office
and we will let you know the calling schedule for
the dates you’re available.
