The Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble at Charleston Southern University is the select wind and percussion ensemble of the university. The ensemble performs the finest literature available for winds and percussion from the Renaissance through the 21st century, both as a large group and in chamber woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles. Membership in the Wind Ensemble is by audition or permission of the instructors. Wind ensemble meets both fall and spring semesters at 1:30 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for large ensemble, and at various times for smaller ensembles. The Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band at Charleston Southern University is the second wind and percussion ensemble of the university, and meets in the spring semester. The ensemble performs standard works for the expanded instrumentation of a full symphonic band. Membership in the Symphonic Band is by audition or permission of the instructors. Chamber Ensembles
Chamber Ensembles at Charleston Southern University play a vital role in the development of musicians through shared experiences in performance with active listening and collaboration. At Charleston Southern University, chamber music is a substantial portion of the curriculum for music majors. Ensembles include the Flute Choir, the Clarinet Choir, small Brass Ensembles, the Brass Choir, the Guitar Ensemble, and the Percussion Ensemble. Additionally, quartets and quintets are formed with interested students. Music from the early Baroque to the 21st Century is featured on concerts that occur every semester.
