Profile: Boyce Smith
Boyce Smith is an instructor of business in the School of Business at Charleston Southern University. He received a bachelor of science in economics and a master of arts in economics from the University of South Carolina. He completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School.
He teaches in the areas of finance, economics and management. His emphasis is on helping as many students as possible learn personal finance skills based on biblical principles. He works with several nonprofit organizations to improve the faith-based financial literacy of our community and of college students throughout the country.
He has more than 35 years management experience as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and then in various global management roles at Milliken & Company, where he was winner of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, the British Quality Award and the European Quality Award. He was a corporate officer and member of the Milliken Policy Committee for more than 15 years. His experience in management was mainly focused in the areas of operations management. He has more than 20 years of experience as a volunteer in financial coaching through churches and other ministries. He has been mentored by the late Larry Burkett, Ron Blue, Howard Dayton and others in how to coach people to manage God's money according to biblical principles.
