Message from the Director
Welcome to Career Planning and Student Employment (CPSE) at Charleston Southern University, where our mission is:
• To provide career services to both students and alumni, and to facilitate the process of connecting God-given passion to skills and abilities through Charleston Southern University majors. We endeavor to increase job placement opportunities for students by partnering with businesses, churches, and the Charleston Southern University community.
• To assist students who qualify for work-study in finding jobs that will allow them to earn money to help cover the cost of their education, and to help students develop job skills for future employment.
CPSE can coordinate recruiting and job placement needs electronically through our BucCareer Network. Not only can students and alumni post résumés and search for positions, but businesses, churches, and ministries may post job descriptions and view the profiles of potential CSU candidates. First time users just click on the BucCareer Network, select student, alumni, or employer, and click on “Register Now.”
Businesses, churches, and ministries are invited to register for our Fall and Spring Career Fairs, and partner with us by participating in Mock Interviews, speaking at our Career Planning Class, presenting during our Fall and Spring Career Development Seminar Series, or recruiting on-campus.
Our Career Center also offers CSU students the option to speak with one of our CPSE Student Career Counselors (SC2). SC2's are dedicated to helping current CSU students explore career-related issues, promoting office services around the campus, presenting various workshops to students on career-related topics, and assisting with CPSE events. SC2 activities include self-assessment interpretations, choosing a major, résumé building, searching for internships, finding a graduate school, CPSE web navigation, and company research.
We pledge to provide courteous and respectful service, timely and accurate responses, a supportive environment, personalized attention, sensitivity, and an appreciation of individual differences. Our staff is dedicated to helping students be successful!
