The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree is designed to meet the needs of practitioners in every field of criminal justice, particularly law enforcementcourt systems and corrections.

Law Enforcement

Prepare to protect the public and serve on the front lines of homeland security by learning about law enforcement operations, criminal law and investigation and terrorism and homeland security.

Court Systems

Study about the justice system and the daily function of the courtroom and its actors. Emphasis is placed on the different court systems in the United States and how these courts are similar yet distinct. Constitutional cases are explored along with jurisdictional differences on the federal, state and local levels. This area will also provide insight to those seeking a career in law or court administration.

Corrections

Corrections is the study of the correctional systems designed to protect the public from convicted offenders, as well as ways to rehabilitate and integrate this group back into society from historical and philosophical applications. This includes a comprehensive examination of the types of rehabilitation: historical, biblical, governmental and constitutional. Designs, functions and administrative duties that are involved in operating a prison on a day-to-day basis are also explored. Opportunities to research different agencies within the correctional system will prepare the student for this type of work.
