Faculty Bio

Christine R. Palmer, MPH, EdD, CHES© joined the CSU faculty as an Assistant Professor of Public Health in January 2018. 

Education

She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Leadership Studies from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She earned her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Carolina.

Research

While in NYC, Dr. Palmer worked with a local public elementary and middle school teaching nutrition lessons, and wrote her Master’s thesis as an intervention in the predominantly Hispanic community to improve nutrition and physical activity in preadolescents. She wrote her dissertation on the impact of leadership education on perceptions of job readiness in undergraduate students. Her current research interests include leadership education, public health leadership, job readiness, health promotion and intervention planning.

Experience

Dr. Palmer previously worked at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as the Education and Outreach Manager for a financial alignment initiative impacting thousands of Medicare and Medicaid recipients. She also previously served as an Instructor at the University of South Carolina teaching and advising undergraduate public health students. 

She is originally from Danville, Va. and married her husband Ben at Jekyll Island, Ga. in May 2016.
