CURRENT GRADUATE STUDENT INFORMATION

All students are responsible for reading the Academic Catalog and adhering to the Academic Calendar for Drop/Add and Withdrawal dates.

24x7 Tech Support

There are 3 ways to contact our 24/7 support: Chat, Email, and Phone.  If you experience a problem with setting up the information below, simply visit the 24x7 Tech Support page, located here on the Administrative Services page of the CSU website, and choose your preferred method of contact.

MyCSU (student portal)

My CSU is the student portal for Charleston Southern University.  Your MyCSU can be found at the top of the CSU homepage. You can use it to see your Academic Advisor, financial aid with live updates, current and upcoming course schedules, courses offered by program and term, account information, and more. You will use your ID and PIN number to log in.

ID and PIN

Please go to MyCSU at the top right side of the university website.  In the middle of the page under Password Help, you will click “I forgot my CSU ID #”.  You will also use the “I forgot my CSU PIN” to access your PIN number.  Please memorize both of these numbers and also please keep your PIN number private – this is for you to know only.

Bucmail Setup (CSU student email)

New students must register for classes before you can set up your Bucmail account.  Once you are registered for classes, please go to “Instructions to configure your student email account.”  If you experience problems, please contact Tech Support.  You will need to check your Bucmail often as this is the only email account your professors and university staff will use to contact you.

Online Course Platforms

If you are a current CSU Online student, you will use the Blackboard online learning platform. The link for Blackboard is located at the top of the CSU homepage. Students can log into their Blackboard account by using the following user name: student ID number without leading zeros and password: pin number.

Although some professors may turn their courses on early, courses do not have to appear in Blackboard until the first day of classes.  If you are having trouble accessing your Blackboard account, please contact 24X7 Tech Support.

New Student: If this is your first time accessing an online class, follow the link below to generate your password. Your username is your ID number.

  • Both the student ID and Parking decal are issued through the CSU security office.
  • Decal cost $10
  • Pay online or pay cash at the cashier in the Hunter Center (front of campus, main entrance). Be sure to keep a copy of your receipt.  With your receipt, student ID, and state vehicle registration, go to the Campus Security Office, located on the 1st floor of Russell West (parking lot side).  There you’ll fill out your vehicle registration form and be issued your decal. The decal goes on the inside of your windshield, driver side, bottom.   They will also give you instructions on where you are allowed to park.

Registration

Registration dates for each semester can be found in the Academic Calendar. Please contact your program director for registration assistance as needed.  The complete course list is posted each semester in your MyCSU. Under the Academic tab, click “Course Search.”

Please know that you will not be able to register if you have a balance on your account.  If you have holds on your account, your program director must register you for classes.

Student Schedules

Once you are registered, you may access your schedule in your MyCSU under the student tab.  Under the Student Schedule on the right, click “View Details” to change the semester umbrella to summer, fall, or spring.

How to Drop a Course

Please refer to the Academic Calendar for the official last date to register or add/drop classes. If you DO NOT DROP the course(s) by the last date to add/drop classes, you WILL be responsible for all tuition and fees incurred by your registration.

You may drop a course by logging into your MyCSU.  To officially drop a course, click on Academics, then click on add/drop courses, then place a check in the box of the course and click drop selected courses at the bottom.  If you cannot use MyCSU to drop or add yourself, please email your program director for assistance.  You must use your Bucmail account to correspond with any office on campus. If your advisor is unavailable, please email the Office of the Registrar at register@csuniv.edu for assistance.

How to Withdraw From a Course

Please refer to the Academic Calendar for the official last date to register or add/drop classes.  If you DO NOT DROP the course(s) by the last date to add/drop classes, you WILL be responsible for all tuition and fees incurred by your registration.

Before withdrawing from a course, please email financial aid to find out what implications withdrawing would have on your student loans if you have them. Students are often left with a balance if they withdraw from the only courses they are registered for.

To officially withdraw from a traditional (on ground) course: complete a Drop/Add Request Form with signatures from the course instructor and advisor. Turn in the completed form to the Registrar's Office for processing.

To officially withdraw from an online course: log into MyCSU, click on the Student tab, and click on Courses and Grades on the left.  From there, click "Go to request form to withdraw from an online course" and fill out the information. You will be notified by email once it is processed.
