Living on campus is a great way for you to get acclimated to Charleston Southern University. Dorm rooms each have two or three students, and two rooms share a bathroom in between. Each room includes a bed, dresser, desk, and closet area for each person and there is even free laundry facilities available in each residence hall. There are resident assistants (who are also students) on each floor that are available to help with anything you may need.
Every student that lives on campus receives 21 meals per week in the Dining Hall, which means that breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided every day including weekends. You won’t go hungry!
Living on campus will make your transition to the United States much easier, as you have access to everything you need on campus, all within walking distance. Whether you are looking for a place to exercise, study, hang out with friends, or relax, everything you need is right here and accessible without a car. If you have any specific questions about living on campus, please ask! We are glad to help!
During international student orientation you will have the opportunity to go to Target or Walmart to buy things that you need, especially for your dorm room. Because you are limited in what you can put in your luggage, you will want to buy bigger, heavier items once you arrive in Charleston. Here are some of the things you will want to get at the store:
