Kinesiology / Athletic Training Subject Guide Databases and Journal Indexes Academic OneFile (Gale InfoTrac)A general database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals in most disciplines Academic Search Complete (EBSCOHost)  A general, multi-disciplinary database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals Alt HealthWatch (EBSCOHost)  Focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. Offers full text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. Features indexing and abstracts as far back as 1984, and full text going back as far as 1990. CINAHL Plus with Full Text A comprehensive source for nursing and allied health journals, providing indexing for over 2,700 journals with full text for more than 620 journals, plus full text for 218 books/monographs, with some full text coverage dating back to 1937. CINAHL Plus with Full Text also includes the Pre-CINAHL dataset, which is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles, providing basic bibliographic information before they are indexed with CINAHL Headings. As Pre-CINAHL journal articles are indexed, the records are replaced with complete CINAHL records. Consumer Health Complete (EBSCO) Designed for the everyday consumer of health care information, CHC provides convenient access to easily understandable health and medical information. Consumers can search and browse within medical encyclopedias, popular reference books, and magazine articles. Credo Reference Provides access to more than 600 subject-specific encyclopedias, biographies, chronologies, dictionaries, and reference titles from over 80 publishers, covering every major subject. Offers over 200,000 images and audio files and nearly 100 videos. Over 10,000 Topic Pages present and organize a variety of information resources on a subject and act as a starting point for research. EBSCO eBook Collection A collection of over 21,000 electronic books available in full text online. These titles may be searched in the library's catalog or directly in the EBSCO database. Formerly known as NetLibrary, titles in this collection cover all subject areas. Gale Virtual Reference Library (Gale Group) The electronic books included in this collection are provided by the CSU Library and are in the categories of: Arts, Biography, Business, Education, Environment, History, Law, Literature, Medicine, Multicultural Studies, Nation and World, Religion, Science, and Social Science. General OneFile (Gale InfoTrac) A general database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals in most disciplines ranging from architecture to biology and history to mathematics. General Science Full Text (H.W. Wilson on EBSCOHost) Subject coverage includes astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, conservation, health and medicine, oceanography, physics, zoology and much more. Provides full text from more than 100 periodicals dating as far back as 1995, in addition to indexing and abstracts for nearly 300 periodicals dating back to 1984. Health and Wellness Resource Center with Alternative Health Module (Gale Group) Provides integrated access to medical, statistical, health, and wellness information. It includes the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, up-to-date reference materials, full-text magazines, journals, and pamphlets from a wide variety of authoritative medical sources, and health and medical videos. Additionally descriptions of and links to several pertinent Web sites, selected for their usefulness and appropriateness are among the resources in Health & Wellness Resource Center. Modules for Health and Wellness Resource Center offer additional specialized information segments. The Alternative Health module looks at health care from a holistic lens. The Disease Profiler module offers an empirical, statistical complement to the disease information in HWRC. Health Reference Center Academic (Gale InfoTrac) A multi-source database that provides access to the full text of nursing and allied health journals, plus a wide variety of personal health information sources. Health Source: Consumer Edition (EBSCOHost) A collection of consumer health information, providing access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines. This database also includes searchable full text for more than 1,000 health-related pamphlets and more than 130 health reference books, and contains more than 4,500 Clinical Reference Systems reports (in English and Spanish); Lixi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names; and Merriam-Webster's Medical Desk Dictionary. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (EBSCOHost) Provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. Coverage of nursing and allied health is particularly strong, including Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names. LexisNexis: Academic Provides access to full-text legal, news, business, and medical publications. Includes law review articles and more than 300 legal newspapers, magazines, and newsletters. Provides access to the Shepard's Citations service for all federal and states court cases back to 1789, European Union law from the CELEX database, and international case law from a number of other countries. Includes national and regional newspapers, wire services, transcripts of television and radio broadcasts, international news, and non-English language sources. Provides detailed company information and financial performance measures to identify and compare companies matching specific criteria. Includes Company Dossier, Hoover's Company Reports, Disclosure reports, Standard & Poor's Corporate Descriptions, and SEC filings. Liebert Online An authoritative database continaing peer-reviewed journals in the most promising areas of biotechnology, biomedical research/life sciences, clinical medicine and surgery, and law. MasterFILE Premier (EBSCOHost) Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals with full-text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 592,000 photos, maps & flags. MEDLINE (EBSCOHost) An authoritative medical information database for medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, etc. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals. Nature A weekly international journal publishing the peer-reviewed research in all fields of science and technology. Search the full text of the journal, or select a specific issue from the issue archive. New York Times Selected full text of the New York Times from 1985 to the present is available in several of the library's databases, with complete digital coverage from 2008 to three months ago available in ProQuest Digital Microfilm. In addition, the library keeps the last 8 weeks of the newspaper in paper format, and has 1851 to 2009 on microfilm. To locate the correct resource for the date you need, see this list. Newspaper Source Plus (EBSCOHost) Includes more than 860 full-text newspapers, providing more than 35 million full-text articles. In addition, the database features more than 857,000 television and radio news transcripts. Newstand (Gale InfoTrac) Provides access to more than 2,700 national, international, state and local newspapers with selective coverage between 1980 and 2012. Nursing and Allied Health Collection (Gale Infotrac) Designed for nursing students, physician’s assistant students, and researchers in allied health fields, and using the familiar InforTrad format, this database provides full text articles in more tha 1,000 journals with a strong emphasis on those cited in CINAHL. Nursing Collection II: Lippincott Premier Nursing Journals (OvidSP) Searchable index to 30 full-text nursing journals. Nursing Resource Center (Gale Group) Designed for nursing students, the Nursing Resource Center brings together in an easy-to-use interface disease and drug overviews, care plans, relevant journal results and animated anatomy and physiology diagrams to complement the core encyclopedia texts. The information is written in accessible language for students completing class assignments and preparing for clinicals as they learn how to care for and treat patients. Search results are returned in tabs that correspond to steps in the nursing process. Opposing Viewpoints in Context Provides contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today's hottest social issues. Drawing on the acclaimed Greenhaven Press series, it features continuously updated viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience. Oxford Reference Online Premium Combines language and subject reference works together to form a large reference library. It contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works. Points of View Reference Center (EBSCOHost) Intended for public, academic, and high school libraries, Points of View is designed to assist researchers in understanding the full scope of controversial subjects. High school and undergraduate students can use Points of View as a guide to debate, developing arguments, writing position papers, and for development of critical thinking skills. Each Points of View essay includes a series of questions and additional material to generate further thought. Also included are thousands of supporting articles from the world’s top political and societal publications. ProQuest Digital Microfilm: New York Times This resource provides cover-to-cover full image access to the New York Times from 2008 to three months ago for an online experience that resembles paging through the newspaper in print or viewing it on microfilm. Users may crop, zoom, or rotate page images and then print, email, or save in PDF format. In addition, the library provides access to selected full text of the New York Times from 1985 to the present in several other databases, keeps the last 8 weeks of the newspaper in paper format, and has 1851 to 2009 on microfilm. PubMed FREE Contains citations from biomedical literature (MEDLINE and OLDMEDLINE) and provides access and links to molecular biology resources. If a journal publisher has a web site that offers full-text of its journals, PubMed provides links to that site as well as biological resources, consumer health information, research tools, etc. links to some full-text articles at journal Web sites and other related Web resources. PubMed covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system and the preclinical sciences. PubMed Central FREE The U.S. National Institutes of Health free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. Readers' Guide Full Text Mega (H.W. Wilson on EBSCOHost) Subject coverage includes antiques, arts, business, computers, education, entertainment, film, television, gardening, health, medicine, history, home improvement, literature, news, current events, photography, popular and classical music, politics, popular culture, religion, science, sports, fitness, transportation, travel and much more. Includes indexing of over 450 periodicals as far back as 1983 and searchable full text of articles from over 250 journals as far back as 1994. SAGE Journals Online SAGE Journals Online (SAGE Premier) is a collection of over 560 full-text journals in over 50 disciplines including business, communication, criminology, education, humanities, industrial relations, labor, medicine, political science, psychology, social science, science, technology, urban studies, and more. Includes research journals published on behalf of more than 245 scholarly and professional societies. Science The online version of Science magazine includes access to original scientific research, global science news, and commentary in all fields of science. Science in Context (Gale) Provides contextual information on hundreds of today's most significant science topics. Merges Gale's authoritative reference content with full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, experiments, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience. Science Reference Center (EBSCOHost) A comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full text science-oriented content. Contains full text for nearly 640 science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, etc. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth and space science, environmental science, health and medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science and society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.
SPORTDiscus (EBSCOHost) A database that contains bibliographic coverage of sport, fitness and related disciplines. It contains over 650,000 records (partially full text) with journal and monograph coverage going back to 1800; over 20,000 dissertations and theses and reference to articles in 60 different languages. SpringerLink An online collection of science, technology, and mathematics (STM) books, journals, and reference works from Springer-Verlag. Subject areas covered include Architecture and Design; Behavioral Science; Biomedical and Life Sciences; Business and Economics; Chemistry and Materials Science; Computer Science; Earth and Environmental Science; Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences and Law; Mathematics and Statistics; Medicine; Physics and Astronomy; Professional and Applied Computing.
