Databases and Journal Indexes
The following database is available to everyone:
PubMed FREE
Contains citations from biomedical literature (MEDLINE and OLDMEDLINE) and provides access and links to molecular biology resources. If a journal publisher has a web site that offers full-text of its journals, PubMed provides links to that site as well as biological resources, consumer health information, research tools, etc. links to some full-text articles at journal Web sites and other related Web resources. PubMed covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system and the preclinical sciences.
The following databases are only available to faculty, staff, and students of Charleston Southern University:
Academic OneFile (InfoTrac)
A general database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals in most disciplines
Academic Search Premier (EBSCOHost) 
A general, multi-disciplinary database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals
CINAHL Plus with Full Text 
A comprehensive source for nursing and allied health journals, providing indexing for over 2,700 journals with full text for more than 620 journals, plus full text for 218 books/monographs, with some full text coverage dating back to 1937. CINAHL Plus with Full Text also includes the Pre-CINAHL dataset, which is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles, providing basic bibliographic information before they are indexed with CINAHL Headings. As Pre-CINAHL journal articles are indexed, the records are replaced with complete CINAHL records.
EBSCO eBook Collection
A collection of over 21,000 electronic books available in full text online. These titles may be searched in the library's catalog or directly in the EBSCO database. Formerly known as NetLibrary, titles in this collection cover all subject areas.

A general database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals.
General OneFile (InfoTrac)
A general database that contains full text and indexed articles from magazines, newspapers, books and journals in most disciplines ranging from architecture to biology and history to mathematics.
Health and Wellness Resource Center (Gale Group) 
Provides integrated access to medical, statistical, health, and wellness information. It includes the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, up-to-date reference materials, full-text magazines, journals, and pamphlets from a wide variety of authoritative medical sources, and health and medical videos. Additionally descriptions of and links to several pertinent Web sites, selected for their usefulness and appropriateness are among the resources in Health & Wellness Resource Center. Modules for Health and Wellness Resource Center offer additional specialized information segments. The Alternative Health module looks at health care from a holistic lens. The Disease Profiler module offers an empirical, statistical complement to the disease information in HWRC.
Health Reference Center Academic (InfoTrac) 
A multi-source database that provides access to the full text of nursing and allied health journals, plus a wide variety of personal health information sources.
Health Source: Consumer Edition (EBSCOHost) 
A collection of consumer health information, providing access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines. This database also includes searchable full text for more than 1,000 health-related pamphlets and more than 130 health reference books, and contains more than 4,500 Clinical Reference Systems reports (in English and Spanish); Lixi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names; and Merriam-Webster's Medical Desk Dictionary.
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (EBSCOHost) 
Provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. Coverage of nursing and allied health is particularly strong, including Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.
LexisNexis: Academic 
A database that provides full-text documents from over 5,600 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications. These resources include national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources; U.S. Federal and state case law, codes, regulations, legal news, law reviews, and international legal information; Shepard's Citations for all U.S. Supreme Court cases back to 1789; and business news journals, company financial information, SEC filings and reports, and industry and market news.
Liebert Online 
An authoritative database continaing peer-reviewed journals in the most promising areas of biotechnology, biomedical research/life sciences, clinical medicine and surgery, and law.
MEDLINE (EBSCOHost) 
An authoritative medical information database for medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, etc. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.
Opposing Viewpoints in Context
Provides contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today's hottest social issues. Drawing on the acclaimed Greenhaven Press series, it features continuously updated viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience.
Oxford Journals Online
Provides abstract and full text access to journals published by Oxford University Press. Disciplines covered in Oxford Journals are the humanities, law, life sciences, mathematics & physical sciences, medicine, and social sciences.
Oxford Reference Online Premium
Combines language and subject reference works together to form a large reference library. It contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works. The sections for "Biological Sciences" and "Medicine" are found under Subjects & Books.
SPORTDiscus (EBSCOHost)
A database that contains bibliographic coverage of sport, fitness and related disciplines. It contains over 650,000 records (partially full text) with journal and monograph coverage going back to 1800; over 20,000 dissertations and theses and reference to articles in 60 different languages.
