A growing collection of over 100,000 electronic books in a wide range of academic subject areas with unlimited, multi-user access. Ebooks may be viewed online in any browser without downloading or installing anything to your computer. If you prefer to read a book offline, you can download up to 10 entire books for 14 days using Adobe Digital Editions (free). Individual chapters can also be downloaded in PDF format. Login to your personal account to take advantage of additional functionalities including setting a default citation format, highlighting and note taking within the text, adding hyperlinks to the text, saving books to a personal bookshelf, downloading content for offline use, and access to iOS and Android mobile apps. Off-campus users are automatically logged in to their personal accounts. On-campus users will be prompted to login when they need to use one of the additional functions or when they click the Sign In link. HathiTrust     FREE
HathiTrust is a growing digital repository of books and journals from a group of large research libraries. It includes both in copyright and public domain materials digitized by Google, the Internet Archive, and Microsoft, as well as through in-house initiatives at HathiTrust partner libraries. The full text of all materials is searchable by everyone, and the full text of materials in the public domain are openly viewable by everyone. To limit your search to the approximately 30% of the HathiTrust collection which is in the public domain, simply check the "Full view only" box on the search screen. Additional options are available for non-partners by creating a Friend Account. Hathi (pronounced hah-tee) is the Hindi word for elephant, an animal highly regarded for its memory, wisdom, and strength.

Library Literature and Information Science Full Text (H.W. Wilson on EBSCOHost)
Provides cover-to-cover indexing of over 400 journals, including key library and information science periodicals, and full-text coverage of over 170 journals.. Subjects include automation, cataloging, censorship, circulation procedures, classification, copyright legislation, government aid, library associations and conferences, library equipment and supplies, personnel administration, preservation of materials, and more. Coverage reaches as far back as 1980.

Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LISTA) (EBSCOHost)   DISCUS icon
Indexes more than 560 core journals, nearly 50 priority journals, and nearly 125 selective journals; plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

MLA Directory of Periodicals (EBSCOHost) PASCAL icon
Offers detailed information on over 7,100 journals, with 4,400 currently indexed in MLA International Bibliography. The detailed entries include editorial contact information, as well as frequency, circulation, subscription prices and submission guidelines.

New York Times
Selected full text of the New York Times from 1985 to the present is available in several of the library's databases, with complete digital coverage from 2008 to three months ago available in ProQuest Digital Microfilm. In addition, the library keeps the last 8 weeks of the newspaper in paper format, and has 1851 to 2009 on microfilm. To locate the correct resource for the date you need, see this list.

Newspaper Source Plus (EBSCOHost)   DISCUS icon
Includes more than 860 full-text newspapers, providing more than 35 million full-text articles. In addition, the database features more than 857,000 television and radio news transcripts.

Newstand (Gale InfoTrac)
Provides access to more than 2,700 national, international, state and local newspapers with selective coverage between 1980 and 2012.

PapersFirst (OCLC FirstSearch)
This resource produced by OCLC indexes papers presented at conferences worldwide which were received by the British Library Document Supply Centre. It includes over 6,500,000 records from congresses, symposia, conferences, expositions, workshops and meetings from 1993 to present.

Points of View Reference Center (EBSCOHost)   DISCUS icon
Intended for public, academic, and high school libraries, Points of View is designed to assist researchers in understanding the full scope of controversial subjects. High school and undergraduate students can use Points of View as a guide to debate, developing arguments, writing position papers, and for development of critical thinking skills. ProQuest Digital Microfilm: New York Times
This resource provides cover-to-cover full image access to the New York Times from 2008 to three months ago for an online experience that resembles paging through the newspaper in print or viewing it on microfilm. Users may crop, zoom, or rotate page images and then print, email, or save in PDF format. In addition, the library provides access to selected full text of the New York Times from 1985 to the present in several other databases, keeps the last 8 weeks of the newspaper in paper format, and has 1851 to 2009 on microfilm. Includes indexing of over 450 periodicals as far back as 1983 and searchable full text of articles from over 250 journals as far back as 1994.

SCIway: The South Carolina Information Highway     FREE
A directory of South Carolina information on the internet. SCIway includes thousands of links to other South Carolina web sites as well as a growing collection of maps, charts, articles, and other resources. Information is organized in subject areas (education, history, taxes, etc.).

Ulrich's Periodicals Directory
A bibliographic database providing detailed, comprehensive, and authoritative information on serials published throughout the world. It covers all subjects, and includes publications that are published regularly or irregularly and are circulated free of charge or by paid subscription.

WorldCat
A shared catalog that provides information about books, periodicals, audio/visual materials, etc. from thousands of libraries around the world and indicates which libraries hold the items.

WorldCat Dissertations and Theses (OCLC FirstSearch)
Over 8 million records index all dissertations and theses which have been cataloged by OCLC member libraries worldwide. Note that very few libraries will loan dissertations or theses via InterLibrary Loan.
