Librarian Eric Jennings Accepts New Position in Wisconsin

Librarian Eric Jennings has accepted a new position at the McIntyre Library of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Best wishes, Eric!

Books and Authors Database Continues and Expands the What Do I Read Next Database

The What Do I Read Next database, often used by teachers, librarians, and others to find books related to books they already know, is being expanded and improved by the new Books and Authors database. This readers’ advisory resource for fiction and nonfiction provides genre lists, plot summaries, author information, award lists, book jacket images, and book reviews from more than 30 sources. User-friendly tools allow users to store reading and search lists, create reviews and ratings, and graphically view search term relationships.

Grove Music Online Redesigned and Expanded in Oxford Music Online

The Grove Music Online database has been redesigned and is now included in Oxford Music Online, which also includes the Oxford Companion to Music, and the Oxford Dictionary of Music. This fulltext resource offers users the ability to access and cross-search the resources of Oxford's music reference in one location.

Ten Databases and Journal Indexes Added or Upgraded

The CSU Library has added or upgraded ten databases and journal indexes:
Book Review Index Online Plus
CINAHL Plus with Full Text
Educator's Reference Complete
History Resource Center: World
Nursing and Allied Health Source (ProQuest)
Nursing Collection II: Lippincott Premier Nursing Journals (OvidSP)
Nursing Resource Center
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
Science Resource Center
Small Business Resource Center
Descriptions of these electronic resources are available on the Databases and Journals webpage. Seven of these databases are funded by DISCUS, while the other three are funded by PASCAL.

PASCAL Delivers InterLibrary Loan

The CSU Library has joined the PASCAL Delivers InterLibrary Loan system. Funded by the South Carolina General Assembly and implemented by PASCAL (the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries), PASCAL Delivers allows students, faculty, and staff at any South Carolina institution of higher education to search the PASCAL Delivers catalog which will ultimately list the library holdings of all South Carolina public and private institutions of higher education. Students, faculty, and staff can place their own requests for books by clicking on links in that catalog without filling out a request form. Materials are delivered between institutions via a special statewide courier system which expedites delivery of these materials and eliminates the postage rates previously paid by the libraries. Journal articles, and books not available through PASCAL Delivers, are still requestable using the standard OCLC InterLibrary Loan process. For more information, see Questions About InterLibrary Loan. For the procedure to request books via PASCAL Delivers, see the Library's InterLibrary Loan webpage.

New Library Website

The Library has launched a new website. The new homepage will hopefully provide faster access to many of the resources available on the website, including a Quick Links section which provides one click access to the Library's catalog, several of the more frequently used databases, Blackboard, student and faculty email, and more. The Resources section uses more user-friendly terminology to help students locate what they need, and the Databases and Journals webpage gives more guidance and information about the Library's many electronic resources. Comments, questions, and suggestions are always welcome, and may be sent to Eileen Lutzow at (843) 863-7951 or elutzow@csuniv.edu
