Myra Jinks Retires
Mrs. Myra Jinks has retired after 31 years in the CSU Library. "Mrs. Myra," as the student-workers called her, was a mainstay at the Circulation Desk during afternoons, evenings, and on Sundays. She had an uncanny ability to track down misplaced books and was the Library's resident expert on Reserve items. She will be missed. Thank you, Myra, and best wishes for a wonderful retirement!
October 2012
Second Floor Additions
A few additions to the newly renovated second floor make it an even more inviting study space. Upholsterd chairs, end tables, and footstool cubes have finally been delivered, allowing for more casual and relaxing places to sit. Power outlets have been added to the new study tables, and three of the new study rooms have been opened for use following the addition of glass doors. There's still a few more details to be worked out in the next few months, so stay tuned for more good things to come!
New Library Staff
Gabby Herrera has joined the staff at the Circulation and Information Desks, replacing
Lauren Seidenschmidt. Welcome Gabby!
August 2012
Second Floor Renovation Completed
After a very hectic month, the renovation of the Library's Second Floor has been completed just in time for Fall classes. New carpeting, furniture, and paint give a fresh look to this heavily used area, but it is the removal of a wall which will most surprise returning students. The former AV department has been converted to a much needed study area and includes the addition of four study rooms. Stop by soon to check out the "new" Second Floor. Can't come in? Take the Virtual Tour.
ProQuest Databases Get New Look and New Names
Two databases from ProQuest have undergone name changes: CJPI/Criminal Justice Periodial Index is now known as ProQuest Criminal Justice, while LexisNexis: Congressional is now called ProQuest Congessional . ProQuest Criminal Justice and Wall Street Journal have also been upgraded with a new look and added features.
July 2012
Renovation Begins on Library's Upper Floor
The long-awaited renovation to the library's upper floor has finally begun and is expected to be completed by the start of the Fall 2012 semester. New carpeting, paint, and furniture along with additional study rooms and changes to the former AV area will make this floor a more appealing study environment.
Extensive Changes to the Online Databases
The electronic resources available to the CSU community have undergone extensive changes effective July 1 due to a new partnership between PASCAL and DISCUS, an extensive re-evaluation by DISCUS of their statewide offerings, and supplemental packages purchased by the CSU Library.
These changes provide over thirty new EBSCO databases, including Applied Science and Technology Full Text, History Reference Center, Literary Reference Center, Newspaper Source Plus, NoveList Plus, Points of View Reference Center, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Reference Center, Religion and Philosphy Collection, Science Reference Center, Small Business Reference Center, and many more. Also new from H.W. Wilson are Art Full Text, Biological and Agricultural Reference Plus, General Science Full Text, Index to Legal Periodicals and Books Full Text, Social Sciences Full Text, and more. New databases from other vendors include Credo Reference, Bloom's Literary Reference Online, and BrainPOP Jr.
Also of note: EBSCO's Academic Search Premier has been upgraded to Academic Search Complete, which almost doubles the number of journals available in this comprehensive database.
If you already know the name of the journal you wish to access, you will also notice a change to the library's Journals by Title webpage as the library has changed to EBSCO's A-to-Z Listing Service.
For a complete list of the library's current resources, see the Databases by Title webpage, or browse one of the Subject Guides.

After an absence of five years, Mrs. Barbara Freeman has rejoined the CSU library staff as a Library Technical Assistant. Mrs. Freeman will manage the newly reorganized and combined Circulation/AV Department. Welcome back, Barb!
