Dual-Degree Engineering

Charleston Southern University offers a dual-degree program in engineering in partnership with the University of South Carolina, Clemson University and The Citadel.

A student choosing pre-engineering at CSU takes three years of general education classes, science, math and general engineering courses.

After successfully completing those requirements, which include a C or better in all of the pre-engineering courses and an overall 2.5 GPA, he or she can choose to transfer to Clemson, USC or The Citadel to complete a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Clemson normally requires a secondary admission for engineering students. However, the dual-degree program affiliation guarantees admission to Clemson, USC or The Citadel if required coursework has been successfully completed at Charleston Southern.

Then during the next two years, the student completes coursework in the chosen engineering field and receives two degrees: a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Charleston Southern and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Clemson, USC or The Citadel.
