Sectionals and masterclasses are scheduled daily, and all band campers will have an hour music elective of their choice. Each band student will be expected to furnish his or her own instrument and bring a folding metal music stand. Only concert percussion equipment and pianos will be available from the Horton School of Music.
Vocal campers will participate in a variety of ensembles during the week, ranging from small theatre sketches to medium chamber choir to large camp chorus. Instruction in vocal techniques and masterclasses will compliment the ensemble experience. All vocal campers will have an hour music elective of their choice.
Piano Camp will be available to students from grades six through 12 who have performed on piano for at least two years. Instruction in technique, literature, musicianship, ensemble performance and theory will be a part of the camp. Each piano camp student will receive four half-hour private lessons during the camp and will also participate by singing in a mixed chorus. Total price for the Piano Camp is $400, which includes lessons. Piano campers should bring at least three pieces of standard literature (no pop arrangements, please) to camp, two of which should be performance ready.
