CSU alum named Teacher of the Year

Seven years after her teaching career started, Angie Grimes decided to pursue her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at CSU.

Grimes completed the degree in the Spring of 2007. “It was easier than I expected to juggle family, work and school,” says Grimes, now in her 18th year of teaching. “Teachers were very supportive of each other and it allowed my professional network to grow.”

The experience also included courses that would prepare her for a detour in dealing with and understanding her students. Most of her career has been spent teaching middle school students. Her most memorable courses at CSU were adolescent literature and adolescent psychology. That proved to be a perfect foundation for dealing with sixth and seventh graders.

Deer Park Middle School has selected Angie Grimes as their Teacher of the Year! Congratulations, Angie!
