CSU announces Fall 2014 Chapel schedule

University Relations

The Charleston Southern student life team has released the fall 2014 Chapel schedule for faculty, staff and students. The schedule will kick off Wednesday, August 27 with Prayer First, a worship and music service to welcome students to campus for the new academic year.

In addition, the fall schedule welcomes the return of Noel Yeatts (September 24), Curtis Zackery (October 8) and Alex Nsengimana (November 12). Yeatts is the vice president of World Help, a faith-based humanitarian organization that serves the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. She has also co-authored two books: Children of Hope and causelife: water equals life and authored Awake: Doing a World of Good One Person at a Time.

Nsengimana survived the mass genocide in Rwanda. He will share his inspiring testimony of life, hope and forgiveness with CSU students. This special Chapel is part of CSU’s annual Operation Christmas Child service.

South Carolina Baptist Convention president D.J. Horton will speak on Wednesday, October 29. Horton is the senior pastor at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church in Moore. Jonathan Morrow, author of Think Christianly, will speak on the importance of knowing what you believe, why you believe it and why it matters.

The fall semester will conclude with a spirited Christmas concert performed by the Horton School of Music. The Christmas concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3.

The purpose of CSU Chapel is to provide the university with a corporate worship experience connecting the campus community with the thoughts and heart of Jesus Christ, creating a generation to live for HIS Name. The 2014-15 academic year is Charleston Southern University’s 50th Anniversary, marking 50 years of academic excellence in a Christian environment.
