Charleston Southern University hosted its annual dinner for international students last week. The event is designed to celebrate international cultures and customs through signature cuisine.
Students from China, Germany, Canada, Russia, Italy and England were among those international students represented at the dinner. The special international menu included offerings such as Chinese donuts, Jamaican coconut shrimp, German Schnitzel and Australian sausage rolls were prepared by Aramark staff. The international students had offered their favorite food suggestions and efforts were made to duplicate those recipes.
Charleston Southern's international student population continues to grow. The addition of our new ESL Summer Camp has introduced college students from around the world to Charleston, the university and its academic programs. CSU's liberal arts foundation allows us to educate the whole person. Learning and supporting other cultures is a perfect match for the student and mission of promoting academic excellence. Students noted the event gave them a sense of home with some of their favorite food. The annual event was held in the Drew Conference Center at the Whifield Center for Christian Leadership.
