Oberbrunner connects with college students through adversity
Author, speaker and life coach Kary Oberbrunner will be the keynote speaker at Charleston Southern University’s Chapel on Wednesday, September 25. The service begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Lightsey Chapel Auditorium.
Oberbrunner has a burning passion — igniting souls. Through his writing, speaking, and coaching, he helps individuals and organizations clarify who they are, why they are here, and where they should invest their time and energy. He is the founder of Redeem the Day, which serves the business community, and Igniting Souls, which serves the non-profit community.
In Deeper Path, released last February, Oberbrunner describes his journey as a “transparent exploration of growth through adversity.” In the book he shares his own struggle to find his own distinct voice and passion. As a young man, he suffered from severe stuttering, depression, and self-injury.
“When I write I feel deeply connected to God, like a little kid working with his dad on a restoration project,” wrote Oberbrunner. “I believe we’re all authors and artists longing to untangle a mystery buried deep inside ourselves and the world in which we live.”
Oberbrunner is the author of The Journey Towards Relevance: Simple Steps for Transforming Your World (2004), Called: Becoming Who You Were Born to Be (2007), The Fine Line: Re-envisioning the Gap between Christ and Culture (2008), Your Secret Name: Discovering Who God Created You to Be (2010) and his most recent title, Deeper Path, The: Five Steps That Let Your Hurts Lead to Your Healing (2013).
