Meet the Faculty: Cynthia Dyson

Cynthia Dyson is an Assistant Professor in the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing at Charleston Southern University.  She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Clemson University, her Master of Science in maternal/child nursing from Medical University of South Carolina and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education with emphasis in Health Care Education from Nova Southeastern University.  Her specialty areas are Pediatrics, Maternal/Newborn and Women’s Health.  Ms. Dyson is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse and a Certified Nurse Educator.  She teaches in the undergraduate level and has developed nursing courses, clinical courses, health promotion and graduate nursing programs for CSU.  She is currently the Adjunct Faculty Coordinator in the School of Nursing.

Ms. Dyson has been a faculty member at CSU since 1996.  Ms. Dyson has over 20 years of experience in Pediatrics/Newborn nursing.  She is a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses, National League of Nurses, American Nurses Association, South Carolina Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Omicron At-Large Chapter.  She currently serves on the national SPN Education committee and on the SCNA Women and Children’s Health Chapter.  Her scholarly interests include clinical evaluation tools, evidence based nursing practice and innovative teaching strategies.
