Meet the Faculty: Dr. Jennifer Shearer

Dr. Jennifer Shearer is Associate Professor in the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing at Charleston Southern University . She received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of South Carolina, Her master of science in nursing with focus in community health from the Medical University of South Carolina, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is teaching undergraduate courses in community health and health education/health promotion.

Dr. Shearer teaches in the undergraduate and graduate level as well as in the health promotion program. She has interests in global health and has taken students to Ethiopia for cultural exposure to international nursing. Her students participate in community health projects such as health promotion with pregnant teens, heart health education with community groups, foot clinic at the homeless shelter, and vision screening with preschoolers.

Professional affiliations include Sigma Theta Tau International, National League for Nursing, American Nurses Association, Association of Community Health Nurse Educators and Baptist Nursing Fellowship.
