Profile: Paul Roof, PhD
Paul Roof is an associate professor of sociology in the behavioral sciences department at Charleston Southern University. He received his bachelor of science in sociology from Presbyterian College, his master of science in sociology from Appalachian State University, a certificate in demography and geodemography from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and his doctorate in sociology from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Roof teaches a variety of undergraduate courses at CSU including Principles of Sociology, American Popular Culture, Urban Sociology and Social Research Methods. His scholarly interests involve the portrayal of gender in popular culture and the importance of community involvement in urban areas.
Dr. Roof welcomes all potential and current students to contact him with questions about the sociology program and is eager to share his experience and excitement for the field with students who are interested in pursuing a degree or career in the behavioral sciences.
