Title: WITHDRAWAL GRADES

Purpose: To provide for the awarding of withdrawal grades for students who officially withdraw.

Withdrawal During Drop/Add Period - A student who officially withdraws from a course during the scheduled drop/add period will be removed from the course with no grade to be recorded in the student's record. To withdraw officially, a student must complete a Request for Schedule Change (RO-111) and acquire the signature of his/her advisor. Professors' signatures are not required during the scheduled drop/add period. The student must submit the completed form to the Registrar's Office to complete the withdrawal process.

Withdrawal After Drop/Add Period But Prior to Midterm - A student who officially withdraws from a course after the scheduled drop/add period, but prior to midterm, will receive a grade of "W." In order to withdraw officially, a student must complete a Request for Schedule Change (RO-111) and acquire signatures of the appropriate professor. The completed form must be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office no later than the date published in the Academic Calendar as the midterm date.

Withdrawal After Midterm - A student who officially withdraws from a course after midterm must receive a grade of either "WP" or "WF." To withdraw officially, a student must complete a Request for Schedule Change (RO-111) and acquire signatures of the appropriate professor. The completed form must be submitted by the student to the Registrar's Office to complete the withdrawal process.

Withdrawals Later Than One Week Prior to the Beginning of Exams - Request for official withdrawal from a course will not be accepted later than one week prior to the beginning of exams. The assignment of a grade for a student not withdrawing, prior to the week preceding the beginning of exams, will be at the discretion of the professor with the exception of a "W."

Financial Obligation - Withdrawn Class - Regardless of the date of withdrawal, a student will be obligated to pay appropriate tuition and fees for any course that a withdrawal grade (W, WP, or WF) or Failure for Absences (FA) grade is assigned.
