I am from Summerville, South Carolina. I am a rising senior in the nursing program in the class of 2018. I don't have a set plan as to what I want to do after I graduate, but I know that I'm going to work for a couple of years and then go on to get my Masters of Science in Nursing. Hopefully by that point I will have a clearer picture, but I do want to continue my education to be the best nurse that I can possibly be. I currently work at Roper Hospital as a Patient Care Technician. I’m extremely honored and grateful to serve on the board because I know that from this position I will gain leadership experience that will help me to become the best nurse that I can be, and our patients deserve nothing but the best.
I was born in Michigan, and I’ve also lived in Arizona and Alabama. God brought my family to South Carolina about four years ago, and He led me to CSU to study nursing. This is my junior year. My plan is to become an RN, and later, a CRNA. I feel called to someday serve as a medical missionary overseas. In the meantime, I’m passionate about serving the community right here at home. I’m excited to see how God works through the SNA this year!
I am from Jamaica and migrated to Florida five years ago. However, I moved to Charleston a year ago after marrying the love of my life. I received my first degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Technology in Jamaica. After working in the field for three years, I have decided to change my career to something more meaningful and satisfying. I currently work as a full time CNA, which is challenging, nonetheless, my patients make it worthwhile. After graduation, with God by my side, my goal is to work as an ER Nurse, then further my career as a CRNA. I love what I do, and it is an honored to serve my fellow students and surrounding communities.
Website/ Newsletter Editor
I am from East Hartford, CT about to enter my senior year in nursing school. I will be graduating in December of 2018 and I am super excited! After graduation I have plans on obtaining a job in the CVICU where I will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to obtain my CCRN, ACLS and PCLS. I really love the fast paced pressured environment and that is why I have a desire to become a CRNA and work on a trauma team. I am the Newsletter and Editor for SNA and I decided to join SNA because of the opportunities that SNA offers students, such as networking, shadowing, and volunteering.
I am from Charlotte, North Carolina. I am a senior in the nursing program. This is my second year as a board member for SNA and I can't wait to start helping out the team. SNA has helped me expand my knowledge on the different routes I can take as a nurse and has introduced me to many volunteer opportunities. I love the opportunities being a nurse offers and I want to become a nurse midwife one day. I really enjoy traveling and SNA has made it possible for me to travel and provide nursing care to children in need in South Africa.
Break Through To Nursing
I am from Pawleys Island, South Carolina. I am entering my third semester of the Nursing program. After graduation I plan to attend graduate school to obtain my DNP and work with Pediatrics. However, I am willing to go wherever God sees fit to place me. I am thrilled to be able to serve on the CSU-SNA Board as BTN and thoroughly look forward to all that this year has in store.
Breakthrough to Nursing
I am currently in my junior year in the nursing program. Originally from Toronto, Canada, I came here with my husband to study nursing at CSU. I am loving the southern living but also miss playing in the snow. We currently have 2 fur babies that we rescued here and we love being outdoors with them. I'm still undecided about what kind of nursing I want to specialize in but I'm looking forward to see what clinical have in store!
I am currently a Junior in the nursing program. I am originally from New Jersey, and moved here about four years ago. I currently work at Roper Hospital, in between Med Surg and Orthopedics. I also am a Medical Assistant, and have experience in the world of Ophthalmology with a surgeon. I have always wanted to be a nurse since I was little, and have a few nurses in my family as well. God is leading my heart towards the Emergency department/trauma upon completing my RN, but I also would love to pursue travel nursing, and missionary positions in Africa. After I receive my RN I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner, or even on to become a trauma surgeon one day. The SNA has been a great experience so far, and has truly opened up opportunities and insights that otherwise might be missed. This is my second year as a member, and first as an executive board member. I look forward to serving!
I was born in Quezon City, Philippines and I had also lived in Daegu, South Korea. The military brought my family to Charleston, South Carolina where I learned about the outstanding nursing program here at CSU. I am a rising junior in the Class of 2019. I am very excited to serve the SNA Board this year; reach out to the community and represent the CSU nursing program. Once I finish school, I plan to commission in the Army as a nurse and take care of those who serve and protect our country.
I am from Cordesville, South Carolina. I am a second semester junior in the nursing program. I will be graduating in the December cohort of 2018. After graduation, I want to pursue a career as a CRNA or as pediatric nurse. I currently work at Roper Hospital as a patient care tech on a cardiac floor that I love as well. There are so much different options and pathways in nursing and I am willing to take whichever one God has for my life. SNA is a great organization that helps out in the community and helps students network as well and I am so thrilled to be apart of such a great organization.
Community Health Director
My name is Drexyl Blair. I am a Junior in the nursing program and currently preside as our Community Health Director. I currently work with psychiatric patients at MUSC’s Adult Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Department, and at the Institute of Psychiatry. After graduation I plan on working in trauma and critical care to obtain my CCRN. After that I plan on going to nurse anesthetist school and work on a trauma team as a CRNA. My dream job would be to work at the R Adams Cowley Shock-Trauma Center in Baltimore on their ‘Go Team’ which consists of a CRNA and a surgeon to provide critical care and surgical services considered beyond the scope of prehospital emergency care.
