If I could share one thing I wish I had known about learning, it would be that it is a process, and it’s okay not to understand everything the first time.

“You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream.”  - C.S. Lewis

Jess Downing

Tutoring has been an incredible experience for me.  It has humbled me to be able to serve other students by helping them.  I have learned a lot about being patient with others and being a better listener.  Tutoring has made me a better student, teacher, and, most of all, a better follower of Christ.

Britney Hughes

Serving since 2015
Major:  Nursing

My advice about learning is:  try, try, try!  If you don’t understand it at first, take a break, come back to it and look at it in a different way.

Brianna Jaeger

Serving since 2016
Major:  Piano Performance

My advice about learning is:  Do your best for the glory of God.  Learning is an act of worship—not a determination of your value. Tutoring has helped me become a better listener, not just hearing what a person is saying, but critically thinking it through.  It has also helped me to forge relationships and encourage others in their attempt to perform their best.  Lastly, it has also reminded me how dependent I am on God, and to pray for wisdom even more.

Wyatt Keisler

Serving since 2016
Major:  Kinesiology

Tutoring has affected me by learning how to actively listen to my learners and help them in a way that I can see the confidence when they leave.  There is no better feeling than seeing learners grow more confident in a subject after I have helped them.

Michelle Singletary

Being a tutor has helped me hone my communication skills and has prepared me for my career path.  The most important thing I ever learned in The Learning Centre was how to find confidence in myself.
